My partner and I have always bonded over music, though his taste ranges far more widely than mine. I recently asked him to recommend some songs that deal directly with time. He rattled off about a dozen. "Isn't the passage of time what most music is actually about?" he asked, looking at me with soft eyes. I bit my tongue. There was no need to bring mathematics into the moment.
