1. In the first pages of the book, Natalie introduces herself as a "flawless Christian woman" and says she is "perfect at being alive." What did you think about these statements? How do you feel they set the tone for the rest of Part One: The Past?
2. Natalie and Caleb meet in college. What did you think of their decision to get married so early? What do you think each saw in the other?
3. Natalie says that her husband "was not disciplined before he met me." In what ways do you feel she changes Caleb over the course of their marriage? Did you think she was as helpful to him as she believes herself to be?
