About this book

Book Summary

The first non-themed collection of critically acclaimed author Sarah Monette's best short fiction. To paraphrase Hugo-award winner Elizabeth Bear's introduction: "Monette's prose is lapidary, her ideas are fantastical and chilling. She has studied the craft of fantastic fiction from the pens of masters and mistresses of the genre. She is a poet of the awkward and the uncertain, exalter of the outcast, the outre, and the downright weird. There is nothing else quite like Sarah Monette's fiction."

More Information

I was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the secret cities of the Manhattan Project. I studied English and Classics in college, and have gone on to get my M.A. and Ph.D. in English Literature. My short stories have appeared in publications including Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, Alchemy, Weird Tales, and Strange Horizons. I collect books, and my husband collects computer parts, so our living space is the constantly contested border between these two imperial ambitions. To learn more, visit www.sarahmonette.com.
