RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
I have pretty much same reaction to book. It was shallow in depth of characters. I felt it was a YA book also

RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
Generally, I love the coast setting, the lighthouse, the beach, small town, and I was prepared to have a cozy fall read. However, I never reached 'cozy.' Very soon, I determined that the novel must have been written for young adults. It lacked depth in storyline, weak characterizations, horses in that setting (?), several family disputes or soon to be disputes.... I read more but felt that it was a waste of my time. I cannot recommend this book to my friends.

RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
One of the things I appreciate about being a BookBrowse member is the surprise aspect regarding the book I might receive to read/review. This broadens my reading and exposes me to authors / subjects I might not choose on my own. Overall, I thought the book was just okay and as such, it isn't something I would recommend to my friends/family. I agree it might be more suitable to a young adult audience rather than my demographic.

RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
When I first started this book, I admit that I thought it was going to be a generic troubled girl has bad relationship with father, meets boy, goes horseback riding and everything magically becomes better kind of story. Boy, was I wrong...except for the magic part, or rather the supernatural twist. I enjoyed this book and think it was well-written. I am just glad that I didn't quit reading it during the first couple chapters--if I had not had to discuss it, I think I might have. I didn't read the blurbs about the book before I started reading, so I missed the hints that there would be more to it.

RE: Have you ever dreamed of packing ...
Often! If I read about, or see photos of a place that particularly interests me, I usually indulge myself in a little fantasy of what it would be like to live there!

RE: How does the role of mental health ...
I think they differed but their solution was an easy ending to the novel. I think the author didn't know how to end it so he didn't do the work to think about how real people would act and provide a true to life ending.

RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
I have read many wonderful novels over the years that have been BookBrowse selections, but I have to agree with others that it is confusing as to why this book was chosen for adult readers. I feel that it is an entertaining Young Adult paranormal read - not as good as "Twilight" and not as bad as a ghost in a dress shop. I do think that the author should be working on his next story - there is skill here in character development and fluid storytelling. I could see this story as a Hallmark or Lifetime special in October.
