Dangerous, Dirty, Violent, and Young: A Fugitive Family in the Revolutionary Underground
by Zayd Ayers Dohrn
A Must Read (4/17/2026)
Dangerous Dirty Violent & Young by Zayd Ayers Dohrn is a timely and important read for today. I loved reading it. When I was younger I heard of Weather Underground. Of course, I did not understand them, I thought they were a cult of evil. This book taught me a lot and provided insight into his parents and why they did what they did. Mr. Dohrn's writing is a pleasure to read.

I think this is a must read for high school and college student. Timely and informative, it will grab your attention and keep you reading. Well worth reading.

A Heartfelt Read (11/16/2025)
The Heart Shaped Tin by Bee Wilson is an exquisite testimony to how personal objects can affect us. Whether it is good, sad, bittersweet or nostalgic, they have a lasting impact on our emotions. Memories that last a lifetime. Their value is oftentimes more sentimental than monetary.

This book was a very enjoyable read. The writing is very well done. I really got into each story. The stories were so personal and heartfelt. Each chapter started with a title and had a black and white picture of the object the story was about. I really loved those pictures.

We'll Prescribe You a Cat
by Syou Ishida
A sweet read (11/8/2025)
I really enjoyed this book. Warm, whimsical and a touch of sadness in the book.
The book is broken into 5 short stories. The title of the chapters is the name of the featured cat.

The stories involve cats being prescribed by a doctor in a mysterious building.
The patient keeps the cat for 10 days and then is asked to return the cat. I really enjoy the idea of cats being prescribed to help people.

There is mystery to the stories. Who is this doctor? Why is there no address , instead just vague directions to get there. Not everyone can find it. If you need it, you can find it. I loved the stories.

Tawny Spice is smarter band more calculating than she seems. She surprised me.

A fast and interesting read (11/20/2024)

Happy Land
by Dolen Perkins-Valdez
Emotional read (11/9/2024)
Happy Land by Ellen Perkins scales is an emotional and wonderful read. It is well written with depth to the characters.

It is a dual timeline story which I love. It goes from the past, how Happy Land came to be and the present.

Mama Rita, the matriarch, is a complex character. Strong ,stubborn and family is important to her.

Her granddaughter, Veronica, who goes by Nikki, comes to visit her grandmother , whom she has not seen in awhile, to try to find out why her mother and her grandmother had a falling out.

The story is a good pick for book clubs. It delves into slavery and the complexities of how slaves were still treated when they were first freed.
Beast of the North Woods: Monster Hunter Mysteries #3
by Annelise Ryan
A thrilling read (10/29/2024)
I loved Beast of the North Woods by Anne lose Ryan.
The writing was very good. She was very descriptive in explaining the hodag..

The prologue was a great start to this story.A monster called a hodag. A creepy creature.

By the end of the second chapter ,there would be 2 mysteries. The first one was for Morgan to help her friends it's and Site's steps brother in-laws Roger and Roger's son,Andy.
Andy was arrested for the murder of an enemy. Andy denied it. Roger and Rita asked Morgan to help look into Andy's story.. Unfortunately for Andy, things don't look good for him, because he had history with the victim.

The second mystery will be who is sending Morgan messages letting her know she is being watched. There is a story there. Morgan had a suspicion as to whom it may be.

This story is a fast and interesting read.
