I surprisingly enjoyed this book. Not always a fan of books written in a diary mode or style, this book kept my interest so much so that I wanted to know what Manet would write. The author wove a wonderful and poignant story about an artist and his appetites and their consequences. Well done!

This book presents grief and healing and love in a wonderfully delicious words and imagery. For anyone who has known grief, the wind phone shows a way out of darkness. The storytelling takes the reader on a quiet yet powerful journey. I highly recommend that you take TBE ride.

I am not sure if I truly enjoyed the story of the book. I found the story line confusing or not giving complete information. You would get snippets but never find out what happened to the characters. Such as with the Indian school the girls lived and taught at with their father. I felt like when it was referred, there was pieces of information left out.
One thing that I loved in the book was the detailed picture presented to the reader with the voyages and the islands. I felt like I was there on the ship and all the different ports.

I found this book so very enjoyable. The author made the subject matter of the life of a very young queen come to life. Not only was the story of Albert and Victoria told, but her life before being queen and in the beginning of her reign. The political intrigue of royal court and all the people around her with their own agendas is relevant even today. This should make a good mini-series.
A Certain Age: A Novel

I did enjoy this book and feel that it id a good summer read. I was confused at first because I thought it was a murder mystery, but what it really is a love story. A story of how certain relationships can heal brokenness which then allows love to happen. The three main characters are well done, I do wish that there was more development of the older sister. But maybe that character will get her own story.

I have always loved mystery books and was not disappointed with this one. I was kept entertained not only with the mystery itself but also with the imagery of when China was ruled by emperors. And just when you think the mystery is solved your are surprised with another one. The twists and turns of the characters made this a very enjoyable read.
