This is a difficult book to review without spoilers. The format of the book tells a web of lies through the characters of Meg and Kat. The alternate voices for each chapter and the time shifts can be confusing if read in small doses. The gambling addiction element of one of the characters is important to the story line but not very convincing. Overall, I did like the book. I enjoyed Julie Clark's first novel and this second novel did not disappoint.

Having worked in a small public library for 30 years I was delighted with the way the author captured the variety of people that a library serves through her characters. I have to believe that the author has worked in a library because Library Assistant June's job duties and relationships with library patrons was so realistic. The Friends of the Chalcot Library (FOCL) was a great way to develop the characters and Gayle's wedding fiasco was laugh-out-loud funny and a vehicle to develop the plot. I loved all of the book recommendations scattered throughout. Support your public library and go check this book out.

This book is about being female at all stages of life and the complexities of family, love and career in person and online. The characters are endearing and the dialogue is spot on. I liked the layout of the novel and the creative elements the author used. Ruby's pen pal correspondence with Fatima was wonderful and the "choose your own adventure" section was fun.
