Fireflies in Winter
by Eleanor Shearer
Unusual Love Story (2/21/2026)
This is a unique story of love set in a unique setting. I didn't have much background on this author and topic. I love when a book teaches you something you weren't aware of and uses fiction. This was my introduction to the Jamaica Maroons. This story is well written and addresses various types of love.. Mother/Daughter, Mother/Son, Lovers, Friends, and even love of dogs. While I'm hesitant to read stories that are overtly sexual, this is NOT that. It is a real love story with true elements of joy and heartbreak.
The Midnight Taxi

A Whodunnit that feels fresh (12/17/2025)
From the very first page, this novel pulls you into the world of an intriguing Sri Lankan protagonist caught in the middle of a crime unlike any other. The author masterfully balances the tension of a classic whodunnit with the freshness of a unique setting, weaving together mystery, culture, and suspense in a way that feels both original and immersive.

It's rare to find a mystery that feels both familiar in its structure and refreshing in its execution, but this book achieves exactly that. For readers who love crime fiction with a twist of cultural depth, this is a standout.

Strongly recommend.

Fun Mystery with the Sarahs (3/12/2025)
I enjoyed this fun mystery with a group of women names Sarah Jones. I was originally a little confused with who was who, but gave it a chance and enjoyed the characters. It was a light hearted twist on a typical murder mystery. The text threads in the box were great to read and felt authentic to the story.
Everything We Never Knew: A Novel

Surprising and Heartwarming story of personal growth (7/30/2024)
I dove right into the fascinating idea of energy fields and was surprised to find a story of personal growth. It is an original idea that engages you from the first page. It also has an interesting spin on going through a significant change. While the experience of Lexi requires some imagination.. the messages are universal. A great read for anyone will to suspend some reality and enjoy her path.
The Flower Sisters
by Michelle Collins Anderson
Explosions, Funerals and Family Secrets (3/11/2024)
The Flower Sisters was a great read - based on a little know true story of a dance hall explosion in small town Missouri. The plot and characters felt familiar but at the same time unique. The many narratives easily crossed many ages and stages of life and tied into a cohesive narrative. Anderson brought us into the funeral business, small town dynamics and family secrets slowly... so the reader could savor the unfolding of the story. I appreciate her bring this little-known story back into the public consciousness. Great first novel.
