Refreshingly Creative Protagonist Who is a Violin!
I really enjoyed The Violin Maker's Secret because it mixes history, mystery, and emotion in a way that keeps the story interesting the whole time. I liked how the violin connects different people and moments in time, and how music becomes a way for the characters to deal with love, loss, and moving forward. The mystery about the violin’s past slowly unfolds, which made me want to keep reading to find out more. It’s a meaningful story, but it’s also easy to get pulled into because the characters and their experiences feel very real.

Magical!
This book is magical!! The story of a group of people brought together because of a violin at the airport’s lost and found. Sounds silly no? But it is so wonderful. It not only brings the three main characters Devlin, Walter and Gabrielle together, but it also brings the historical owners into the mix. We hear the stories of how this violin came to be and how it has been acquired throughout it’s life, mainly through the words of the violin itself. This personification of the instrument enriches the stories behind it. This book allowed me to escape from the horrible things happening in the world today. Just what I needed. I’ll be picking up Evie Woods other books thanks to this wonderful story.

Great Read
I really liked this engaging novel. The author did a wonderful job of giving the main characters distinct and complex personalities and history. It was easy to understand their choices in the course of the story because we knew their history. Also the story of the violin was particularly delightful! This was quite an original book !

The Violin Maker's Secret
I have always enjoyed reading books by the author Evie Woods, but her mastery in writing shines in The Violin Maker's Daughter. She brought all of her characters to vivid life. She explored how one tragic incident can totally unmask our deepest fears and how we will do things naturally foreign to us to cope with the feeling the tragedy produces. All of Evie's characters are flawed and each in their own way try to go on with life, offer in very self destructive ways. The violin was the touch point of each character and how they related to life after touching it. The violin helped so many characters find a way to heal. The story was so engaging that I read the whole book in one day. Evie kept throwing in surprises in the plot and there were plots within plots. But, Evie writes so masterfully that the reader can follow all of the books twists and turns and this reader gasped in all the right places. The only thing I can say about this book is that if you don't read it you will have missed a great story.

Mysterious Violin
The Violin Maker’s Secret is an unexpected gem, warm, whimsical, and wonderfully charming. The story begins simply, with three ordinary people and a lost/stolen violin, but it quickly unfolds into something much richer. The violin carries secrets that lead our characters on an adventure to who can uncover its mysterious origins. Because the violin was stolen, those who took it are going to reclaim it any way possible, adding suspense throughout the novel.
As we follow the trio and the violin across time and the violin's memory, we learn how this remarkable instrument ended up in Heathrow Airport’s Lost and Found. The characters are endearing, each bringing heart and humor to the journey. My favorite element is the magical realism woven through the story. The violin is a spirit guiding presence that connects everyone it encounters.
It is a sweet, imaginative novel, and now I want to read more of Evie Woods’ work.

Magical Music and Composition
Evie Woods, the Author of “The Violin Maker’s Secret” has written an evocative masterpiece. The genres for this inspirational and captivating novel are: Historical Fiction, Magical Realism, Fantasy,Music, Suspense and Mystery, with a dash of Romance. The author visually and vividly describes the scenery, and the dramatic, colorful, complex and complicated characters. Baggage Claim Agent Devlin finds an older violin in the lost and found section in Heathrow Airport. He purchases it for his girlfriend, thinking it is the perfect gift, but all the girlfriend expects is an engagement ring. Somehow, Devlin is drawn to this violin, and bring it to an old professor that inspired him, Walter, who is now retired and needs a sense or purpose, as soon as possible. Both of them bring the violin to an appraiser Gabrielle, who senses that there is something magical about this instrument and researches it.
The unusual trio find themselves on an adventure in the search of the history and truth of the violin. The Violin Maker has exquisitely created this beautiful musical instrument that tell so much more. There is a dangerous and challenging mission to find out where and what is so special about this violin. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

Lovely Irish tale
This book is a very readable, magical story, characters well developed with interesting dips into history. No need to know a lot about violins or music -- the author provides the reader with all the details for that and, at the same time, she endows the musical part with rich magic. This is a comfort book and one cannot go wrong in choosing it! Perhaps not "high literature" but such a good story!
