Please be aware that this discussion guide will contain spoilers!

  1. The Ramifications ok Risk: Would you take more risks in your life before reaching 50, knowing you could Reset and any physical damage would be reversed? Would you fear the Reset stopping before your 50th birthday making any damage permanent?
  2. The Economics ok Mouth: The anger directed at the Resets stems from the economic impact on the youth. If the government had mandated retirement ages, would the younger generation have been less agitated? Would environmental issues have been enough to anger them on their own?
  3. The Miller Family Dynamics: Did Tom do enough to earn Elena's forgiveness? Should she have divorced him?
  4. The Path to Self-Discovery: If Tom had not left, do you believe Elena still would have found her way to becoming her "true artistic self"?
  5. The Price of Redemption: If Tom had successfully "sown his wild oats," do you believe there would have been any way for him to redeem himself?
  6. The Symbolic World: Pastor Wilkes uses imagery reminiscent of the life of Jesus (the 12 advisors, the Sermon on the Mount, final words). Does this imply he believed he was a reincarnation of Jesus, or something else entirely?
  7. The Literature of Names: Did you notice the hidden meanings in the characteristics of names? (e.g., Ethan Lilian: "Fong-lived" and "Forever young," or Randall Wilkes as a nod to Stephen King antagonists Randall Flagg and 8nnie Wilkes7.
  8. The Burden ok Decisions: If a loved one had a severe disability and lacked the mental capacity to decide, is it okay for a guardian to choose to skip the Reset? Should there be laws regarding this?
  9. Part II: Deep Dive (Contains Spoilers!) The Complexity of Choice: Did you think Jack was going to go through with giving Elena the stay-awake pill? How do you balance saving someone you love versus giving them personal choice, even if you truly believed their choice was going to do themselves harm?
  10. The First Choice: Would anyone in your group choose not to Reset the first time, assuming you didn't know the consequences of the second Reset?
  11. The Weight of Knowledge: If you were approaching your first Reset and DID know about the second Reset, would it change your decision on the first Reset?
  12. The Physics of the Event: Which aspects of the Reset event stood out to you the most (e.g., implants disappearing, organ donation reversals, lost limbs growing back)?
  13. Alternate Histories: 8re there other options for the second Reset that would have been better for the story (e.g., reset forever, age normally, or /ump to a different age7? What economic/environmental impacts would those have caused?
  14. Age Ramifications: Think about the rami)cations of going from 100 to 50 versus 50 to 25. What is the same? What is different?
  15. Unintended Consequences: The book covers kidney trans plants and casket rentals. @an you think of other oddities or unintended consequences?
  16. The Skip Threshold: Do you think people who skipped the Reset at 50 will be able to Reset if they reach 100?
  17. The Value ok Time: Like Walt, if you thought you had only 25 years to live and suffered from a debilitating disease, how many years of good health would make a Reset worth it?
  18. Character Evolution: Would Randall have been the same person if his birthday had fallen on the second day, he didn't know he could skip the event, and he had reset himself?
