  1. In what ways did Asma's family influence her decision-making? Did her perceptions of what her family would think or say always match reality? In what ways did the death of Asma's mother at such a young age change the course of her life?
  2. "Farooq's reappearance couldn't just be coincidental—especially at this stage in her life. It had to be a sign that they were meant to reconnect." Do you believe in fate, or signs from the universe? Have you ever felt certain that a person was meant to be in your life?
  3. Discuss Asma's relationship with Maryam and Iman. How does Asma differ from her sisters? What did you think of the confrontation with Iman towards the end of the book? What role did the Ibrahim sisterhood play in the story?
  4. "There was only one person Asma had ever considered marrying. And she'd broken his heart eight years ago. Did she even deserve another chance?" What did you think of Asma and Farooq's journey? Do you think their uneven path led to a stronger relationship? Why or why not?
  5. "Men don't have the same kinds of pressure that women do." What did you make of Asma and Farooq's argument at the PIMPS event? Who do you think was right? How did Farooq's past experience with Asma and her family, and his later success, shape the views he expressed?
  6. What role did gossip play in the novel? In what ways did the wider Desi community affect Asma and her family? What did Fatima's story and the end of her relationship with Salman add to the novel? How did Asma and Fatima support one another throughout the novel?
  7. How did Asma's character change over the course of the novel? In what ways did her character grow, and what do you believe was the motivation for her growth?
  8. Yours, Eventually was inspired by Jane Austen's 1817 novel Persuasion. Have you read Persuasion? If so, what did you think of the ways Nura Maznavi modernized the story? Have you ever seen parallels between a book published many years ago and your own life?
