This book makes the controversial claim that eating meat may contribute to the development of the disease....They present startling evidence that Alzheimer's may be part of a family of diseases linked to malformed proteins known as prions....and that mad cow disease and its human equivalent, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, other encephalitic diseases and Alzheimer's may have a common antecedent.
'Scientists have shown that prion diseases can be transmitted between species (e.g., from cows to humans), and that high temperature doesn't kill prions. This isn't a jeremiad against eating meat.
