Maritta Wolff (1918-2002) born on December 25, 1918 in born in Grass Lake, Jackson County, Michigan, and is the author of six novels, notably Whistle Stop and Night Shift. She refused to promote her 7th book (or refused to revise the manuscript - the exact reasons seem to be unclear) and instead hid it in her fridge for 30 years. It was found after her death, and Sudden Rain was published in 2005, after Wofll's death, to critical acclaim.
