Amanda Skenandore has written a number of books, mostly in the historical fiction genre. Have you read any of her other novels? Is there another book or author you feel has a similar theme or style?
...eper colony that was in the US!! I had never known there was a colony located in the US, or how individuals were sent there. This book reminded me of Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall, an historical fiction of the underground network in Canada that assisted women.

I'm reading Looking for Jane, by Heather Marshall. It's terrific. And I recently finished 2 excellent books: Let's Call Her Barbie, by Renee Rosen, and Becoming Madam Secretary, by Stephanie Dray.
