About this book

Book Summary

In the bestselling, page-turning vein of The Couple Next Door and The Dinner, Kaira Rouda weaves a gripping, tautly suspenseful tale of deception and betrayal dark enough to destroy a marriage…or a life.

"I glance at my wife as she climbs into the passenger seat, and I am bursting with confidence. Today will be everything I've promised her…and more…"

Paul Strom has the perfect life: a glittering career as an advertising executive, a beautiful wife, two healthy boys and a big house in a wealthy suburb. And he's the perfect husband: breadwinner, protector, provider. That's why he's planned a romantic weekend for his wife, Mia, at their lake house, just the two of them. And he's promised today will be the best day ever.

But as Paul and Mia drive out of the city and toward the countryside, a spike of tension begins to wedge itself between them and doubts start to arise. How much do they trust each other? And how perfect is their marriage, or any marriage, really?

Forcing us to ask ourselves just how well we know those who are closest to us, Best Day Ever crackles with dark energy, spinning ever tighter toward its shocking conclusion.

Suspencial-psychotic-intresring
So the story is about Paul and Mia. They are husband and wife and let me tell you they have a perfect life. Paul has a big-time job at an advertising agency. They have got a big house. He is got the perfect wife. they have got the beautiful kids, everything that you could hope for and it's been a while since they have gotten to spend. sometimes together Mia's been feeling a little bit under the weather lately and you know Paul's just been so busy and they just have not taken time out for themselves and so Paul decides that he is gonna plan the perfect weekend getaway. He is gonna drive her out and to their lake home and they are going to have the best day ever.
So the first bit of the book takes place in a car while they are driving the story is told from Paul's point of view and we are listening to him think while they are in the car basically every so often they have the conversation. Paul is completely psychotic. He has had many relationships. He is a womanizer who has had extramarital relationships.

So the final thought is that this story is incredible and if you love thrillers I recommended it.

Inside the Mind of a Narcissist
I don't think I've ever read a book in which I hated the main character, Paul Strom, yet couldn't stop reading. Little by little, the evil within this man is revealed. You can't help rooting for his wife, Mia, to escape. It's a dark book, but I liked it. I didn't give it five stars because he seemed to get away with some actions that I felt he would have been caught for, and prosecuted for. Not sure how he got out of those. Good read though.
