RE: Overall, what do you think of The Narrowboat Summer (please, no spoilers in this thread)
I very much enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well crafted and the pace felt right for the concept of boat travel using a system of canal locks. I previously read the author's other book - Meet Me at the Museum - which I also enjoyed.

RE: Do you agree that sometimes it'...
When I started to college and then later to graduate school, I went to universities where I knew no one when I started. In both cases, the change in my life was tremendous. I had to enroll in classes, figure out how to get around, and make new friends. My first job out of graduate school also involved moving to a city where I knew no one. I found that I can adapt!

RE: What do you think Plan Number One ...
I admire Anastasia’s life choices and willingness to trust Sally and Eve with her floating home. She is at a stage of life where health and physical strength are changing her options. She seems able and willing to deal with what life throws at her.

RE: Overall, what do you think of The ...
I enjoyed the book. At times, it would have been nice to be a little faster paced, but I realize this would not have fit the book and the lifestyle being portrayed. It was nice to learn of a different way to live/travel. It almost forced you to slow down and think about how fast paced life can become so quick and that it is okay to slow down.

    RE: Discuss the book's "...
I agree with Elise - it is good to go away to appreciate what you have. I think the longest I've been away from on home is 2 weeks, longer is too much time away for me.

RE: What do you make of Billy and ...
I believe that their relationship is a relationship of chance. It began when they were both needy and alone and rocked on from there. It was convenient and met their needs for the moment. Neither was committed, regardless of Billy's comment about eternity. He did not act responsibly toward Trompette but who else would sit idly by and watch him do the things he did. They were apparently rather than actually comfortable in their pseudo relationship.
