Security

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the split column text, because I knew that I was reading two things happening at once and it made it clear that this was two perspectives. I really enjoyed the development of the characters, because people are complicated. Each character seemed to have something that was really likable and then something that was, not so likable (just like all of us). The only reason I did not give a 5 star is because there are some very very graphic violent scenes.
When She Woke: A Novel
by Hillary Jordan
When She Woke by Hillary Jordan (5/29/2015)
I really liked the idea behind this book - that the government has figured out a way to chrome a person instead of incarceration. A person is chromed a color based on the level of crime and then send out into the population. It is a bit like The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, but Ms. Jordan is no Margaret Atwood. I found the story a bit too pat, but it made me think and I enjoyed it.
Letters to the Lost

Review of Letters to the Lost by Iona Grey (3/10/2015)
I enjoyed the story and I enjoyed learning how the roles of women have changed and not changed since World War II. I found the characters fascinating. I thought the story was a bit dull. While the writing was good, there were some storylines that were not pulled together. I also found the first 100 pages very slow.
