The Gypsy Moth Summer
by Julia Fierro
A Summer Storm (5/13/2017)
I really enjoyed this book. The tension built slowly, as a summer storm builds, skies getting darker. When the storm finally broke, it was almost a relief. This coming of age tale was not focused on just a teen's point of view. It brought in other characters who were each going through a crisis.
The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes
by Anna McPartlin
Bring Your Tissues (7/28/2015)
First, let me start off by saying, I'm a crier. That being said, this is a sad book. Right off, you know there's not going to be a miracle. But once you accept the fact that Rabbit Hayes is going to die of cancer, it leaves you free to enjoy the close relationships she has with her entire family. This book is more about family and less about dying. In the end, it was uplifting in a way I didn't see coming. I enjoyed it very much.
Sailor Twain: Or: The Mermaid in the Hudson
by Mark Siegel
My first graphic novel (4/21/2014)
I was very surprised to find myself held captive by this story. I have stayed away from graphic novels because I assumed the use of less words was not really relevant to reading. I was a word snob. This story held my attention but it didn't satisfy like a traditional novel.
