I really enjoyed the book. I grew up on the upper east side of Manhattan and can tell you everything written in the book is amazingly accurate. I was amazed at the detail of the encounters with the Bruckner’s and the describing of the lobby of the towers is was all so real for me. I would recommend this book for all to read especially all New Yorkers. I would recommend a free copy be mailed to every home on Park and 5th Ave. I was a little disappointed with the ending, it seemed to end to abruptly. Even though things were looking up for Grace when the book ended. I would have like it to end when she got her green card. Or when she could at least go back to Bruckners and say look at me now once she received her college degree.

This book had a great impact on me. It was well written and I could relate to the main character Connor and his struggles and triumphs. The main story of the book is how Connor a young Irish American volunteers in Nepal orphanage and how he makes it his life’s mission to help these poor children. The part of the book when he returns to Humla to find the children's parents is unforgettable and I could not put the book down till the end. The underlying story is of Connor and how his life is inspired by these children. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read books about foreign countries and how it only takes one person to make a difference. After I finished the book I immediately went to the NGN and Umbrella Foundation website. I hope one day I can fill out the volunteer form and spend 3 months in Nepal.

What a great and amazing story about a family that falls on hard times and is saved my a hardworking caring Amish family. They learn valuable life lessons and are able to rebuild a stable family by learning from the Amish community they are staying with. I could definitely relate to the family and kids arrogance and how we all take life for granted. This is a great easy read on family values and rebuilding of a broken family's relationship.
