What a delightful read! Fun to see a protagonist my age. And such an appropriate premise of the book. Nice to see the backstory of the current scam perpetrated on older folks. Maybe some insights for those of us who think it couldn't happen to us.
A short book that would be fun to discuss. "What do you think you would do in her shoes?" Can't imagine the outcome in the book is a very common, but was satisfying. Would recommend the book to anyone who wants a fun read with a bit of suspense.

I enjoy historical fiction, especially when it teaches me about an occurrence in history I knew nothing about. Who knew there was an island off the coast of Maine that was once a refuge for mixed race peoples, that was devastated during the time of eugenics. Hardings prose is so lyrical and so descriptive of the Island and its inhabitants. Theirs was not an easy nor comfortable existence, but all the inhabitants of the Island were loved and accepted by all the inhabitants. The story of Ethan Honey is heart wrenching; to have his talent obscured by his heritage.
I think this would be a great book club book. Short, but with lots of meat to discuss. A must read that will be the cause of much reflection. Enjoy.

"Take My Hand" introduced me to another aspect of America's history that tends to go unnoticed. As a retired nurse I found the book exceptionally compelling.
The back and forth between present and past provided insight into the long term trauma that effects all involved in a tough situation.
Most of us know something about the Tuskegee experiments, but this book tells us about another experiment/procedures carried out on poor women, especially black women.
It is worthwhile to consider how most of the issues brought to light in this book still exist today. Maybe sterilization isn't so widely practiced, but lack of access to reproductive care effects many women and contributes to poverty.
This book is well worth a read and great book for discussion.

What a captivating book! So full of images, traditions, insights into another culture, and history. What a great way to learn about the history of Korea and its people. The characters were engrossing and to follow them for many years through many changes was a gift.
I had previously read about the sea women, so enjoyed that reference in the book.
Would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction and/or character development.

It did take me a bit to get into this book; but well worth the persistence! The book gives one a glimpse into one man's struggle with overwhelming grief and guilt. I was so touched by the love and persistence of his friends and family. Rebecca became the lifeline he needed. The description of his roommates was great. The tricks our mind plays on us. Would actually recommend this book to anyone, maybe we all should read it and then have a bit more acceptance of those around us who are struggling.
