Haven't Killed in Years
by Amy K. Green
Interesting story (11/21/2025)
The daughter of a serial killer is given a new identity and grows up in a boarding school. Some is stalking her, leaving arms and messages with her real name.
The group of characters in this book truly are characters. An odd grouping of people. Because there were so many, I felt that they weren't written with much depth. Particularly in Part One.
It was an easy read, the book was better in Parts Two and Three, a few characters became the suspects, but, I have to say, the actual culprit was not who I had suspected.
I will read other books by this author in hopes of more well rounded characters as she develops as a writer.
When They Burned the Butterfly
by Wen-yi Lee
Good story, but a struggle (10/4/2025)
Thank you to BookBrowse and the Tor Publishing Group for the opportunity to read this ARC.
The story in and of itself was really good. However, I struggled with the writing, Halfway through, I started to skim through much of the remaining book so I could find out how the story concluded.
The Sister's Curse
by Nicola Solvinic
Must read (7/19/2025)
Very good! I hadn't realized it was a sequel when I requested the novel. So I read The Hunter's Daughter first, which was really good. Reading The Sister's Curse was even better. The spirits of the forest and the water, the investigation of a 25 year old murder, and the life of Elena/Anna were are amazingly written. I look forward to reading more Nicola Solvinic novels.
The Bone Thief
by Vanessa Lillie
A great read! (7/5/2025)
Very good! I received an advance copy via BookBrowse for review. I hadn't realized it was a sequel when I requested the novel. So I read Blood Sisters first, which was very good. Reading The Bone Thief was even better. it gave me an insight to the atrocities that have, and continue to, impacted the Native Americans. I look forward to reading more Vanessa Lillie novels.
The Vanishing Place
by Zoë Rankin
Haunting mystery (5/29/2025)
I enjoyed The Vanishing Place. It took me a little bit to get into the story due to the two timelines, but once I was hooked, I didn't want to put it down. Effie has a lot to unpack, emotionally, when she is called home to New Zealand. It was a rollercoaster of emotion and trying to figure out what was coming next! A haunting mystery and thriller!
