The Night Hunter
by Natalie Moss
African bush thriller (5/24/2026)
The action in this novel moves quickly and nimbly. Twists and betrayals you won't see coming start piling up towards the end. The main characters are deeply developed and I was filled with compassion for both by the end. The ending was satisfying. I recommend this book for those who love action novels set in African game reserves. The settings are detailed and authentic.
Henry Tudor Must Die
by Jillian Laine
History made human (4/24/2026)
I read this book without refreshing my memory of King Henry VIII's reign. I highly recommend that be done because it showcases the author's power of storytelling. I can imagine British royalty buffs having spirited discussions over the twists and turns. As a non-history buff, I deeply appreciated the personalities of the queens and admired their courage. Needless to say, Long Live the Sisterhood!
Somebody Worth Killing
by Jessica Payne
Wait for the twist (4/18/2026)
In the beginning, I thought the plot predictable. I could see it coming. But then a dizzy twist while picking up speed! I was delighted! In a nod to the author, fiction means to me that readers who comment that it is not like true life are missing the point. It's fiction! So, I enjoyed how it all resolved. And…I loved Gran! I bet you will too!
The Reimagining of Thornwood House
by Jaleigh Johnson
A cozy fantasy! (3/30/2026)
I had never heard of a sentient house or building before. However, the Thornwood House quickly endeared itself to me and I consider it the main character. The author was masterful in her descriptions, character development, and the plot. I felt quite a bit of suspense as the ending neared. When it came I wanted nothing more than to jump and shout in approval even though I did not see it coming. Tears of gratitude for this marvelous book! I must have a hard copy to cherish!
The Insomniacs
by Allison Winn Scotch
Best thriller in years! (3/15/2026)
Lately I have set a protocol of reading 100 pages to see if a book will hook me before giving up on it. But THIS book hooked me in the first 5 pages! Amazing! This book flowed rapidly, smoothly, and I raced through it. I read it in one day. The characters were well developed and believable. Also amazing to me was that I could easily keep track of who the characters were. The rush of coming to the end of the book was exhilarating. I am recommending this book to all my reading buddies. I may even purchase a hard copy for my library. What a thriller! I highly recommend!
Stay for a Spell
by Amy Coombe
Stepping into delight (2/20/2026)
This is not a genre I have considered before but I was thoroughly enchanted by this book! In fact, I relished it. I envy the author's imagination and was delighted by the characters. I had so much fun reading and often laughed as I went. This book has opened new worlds for me. I am grateful to the author for providing me with such an introduction to fantasy. I love surprises!
This Book Made Me Think of You
by Libby Page
A gift I'd love to get! (10/30/2025)
I love reading books about books and the impacts they have on people's lives. This book is the closest to perfection in that category I have read. Because of this book, I am considering selecting books for family and friends that made me think of them! This book was uplifting and validated the power of books to change lives. BRAVO!
The Botanist's Assistant
by Peggy Townsend
A delight that rings true! (7/4/2025)
Excellent story line with great character development. But what grabbed me the most was how genuine it was to the laboratory and higher education! I have worked in both environments and reveled in the accuracy and laughed several times! BRAVO!
Making Friends Can Be Murder
by Kathleen West
Satisfying and humorous (1/26/2025)
The premise of the book—a group of women with the same name—attracted me. The assigning of numbers to each of them to tell them apart was necessary but seemed so arbitrary that it became a distraction and a struggle for me to keep them straight. When the explanation was finally given much further into the book, the story became much more cohesive and easier to follow.

It took longer than most books I read to hook me and send my reading into the frenzied phase. The characters were easy to relate to and well developed. The dialogue was amusing. Their struggles were relatable. The ending was satisfying. This was a fun read. It includes discussion questions.

I must mention two supporting characters who almost stole the show. Sister Mary Theresa and Supervisory Special Agent in Charge Vance delighted me, made me chuckle, and I admired them tremendously. This book would be sorely lacking without them. I would love to see them star in a sequel.

I received an advance electronic copy of this book through BookBrowse and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
