How Doctors Think
by Jerome Groopman
Understanding the Medical Profession (5/7/2008)
Dr. Groopman states that in order to to get a patient's information, he must "establish rapport with the patient". In today's hurried world, how does one and how can one establish that necessary and needed rapport? Dr. Groopman gives many insights to this problem as well as medical school training and doctors not being able to "think outside the box" in making diagnoses.

While this book was written for lay people, I feel it should be mandatory reading for every med student, current practitioners and medical school professors.

This book is a keeper on my bookshelf!
Killer Heat
by Linda Fairstein
A Must Read for Mystery Fans! (3/10/2008)
Linda Fairstein's 20 plus years in the Manhattan D.A.'s Sex Crimes Unit brings a chilling reality to her newest book. Just when you think you know where the author is headed, she throws in yet another twist for you to ponder. And in fact, just maybe one of her twists will be the basis for a new novel!

I especially liked her info on rape shield laws and the mini history lesson on New York waterways during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

I highly recommend this book, perhaps Fairstein's best to date!
