True Crime Story: A Novel
by Joseph Knox
True Crime Story (11/16/2021)
I confess I was confused from the moment I picked up the book and saw 'a novel' under the title. I read a lot of books (about 100) a year and I've never felt as manipulated as I did by this author.
The writing style is interesting, the format easy to read, the twists and turns engaging enough to keep going. However, I was as perplexed at the end as I was throughout the entire book. I constantly had to remind myself 'this is fiction'! Because of this, I guess it's a good book and has accomplished what the author intended.
I totally missed the hilarity hinted at in the book's description, instead finding the characters, for the most part, pretty pathetic.
