The Laws of Gravity
by Liz Rosenberg
Caught by surprise... (5/7/2013)
Many, many beautiful moments kept the story moving even though the flow felt crafted to me. That is, until the ending. Genius how profound it became. Additionally, I loved the character developments. I have already recommended to a friends bookclub.
Golden Boy
by Abigail Tarttelin
Rarity of subject mirrored writing focus (1/12/2013)
Abigail developed interesting characters and had me hooked within the first 120 pages, but not right out of the box. The rawness of the subject made it hard to keep reading, until it didn't any more. I credit this to the author, but I can not explain how exactly. Most of the inner dialogue was appealing. Minor irritations, for me, were the continual awkward reminders of some character facts, and the phenomenal ending which did not fit the rest of the book. I am looking forward to her next.
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry: A Novel
by Rachel Joyce
Here is a good book (7/4/2012)
Here is a good book. The breadth of the experience was masterful, and I have notched at least 12 pages for continual savoring. "...he was free to listen. To carry a little of them as he went." "I should have raged." "I love you... This is what you did."

So simple, yet so powerful. And I feel the richer for the experience. Please partake.
