I enjoyed this book that took place at a summer camp over several years. It was definitely a thriller and kept me interested throughout the story with the twists and turns that were thrown into the storyline. The characters were so believable and I loved the way the story was told from different perspectives and along a past and present timeline. It kept me turning the pages for sure !

Greer returns to her family's upscale summer camp after five years. Five years ago a fire swept through and destroyed the camp. Her friend Stephanie was believed to have died in the fire.. Because of the tragedy and ongoing questions about the fire,
Greer left and swore she would never return.

Now her mother, with the help of long time dedicated staff, has had the camp rebuilt and it is ready to welcome campers once again. Before the grand opening Greer's mother dies. Greer returns for a memorial for her mother in conjunction with the reopening. Greer reluctantly goes back to face the people she once considered family, and those she met 5 years ago.

The story unfolds in two time frames. Going back to events five years ago before and up to the fire and present time. Greer and her peers are now in their mid twenties but as five years ago some of their behaviors seem like they are teenagers.
Turns out everybody has secrets.

I enjoyed the story line and always like finding a author I'm not familiar with.

Darby Bozeman's debut novel Summer's Never Over is the engaging coming-of-age tale of Greer, daughter of Dread's Cove summer camp owner, Anita Olsen. Anita's unexpected death forces Greer to grapple with many relationships from across her lifespan. The story alternates between the present, and five years earlier, when a forest fire devastated the camp. Bozeman held my interest with plot twists that reveal and resolve several questions about mysterious happenings before and after the fire. The cast of characters includes family members who were part of Greer's life since childhood—Aunt Val, camp staff member Rig, and Rig's daughter Chelsea; two men with whom she has history— Wes and Trevor; and two new counselors that fateful year—Steph and Margo—one who died in the fire and the other now an inquisitive journalist. Although not every character and plot turn is convincing, I enjoyed the book and cared about the outcome!

This creepy thriller will have your skin crawling with goosebumps as you tread carefully through a summer camp deep in the woods. The characters are flawed and believable, and the plot has twist after twist to keep you guessing until the very end.

Going to sleep away summer camp. A child's dream. But when the so called "Phantom" begins to cause destruction and even death at Dread's Cove, the summer experience turns bad. When Greer returns to the camp after the death of her mother, she discovers that all the old stories, fractured relationships and fears return. With the help of her former arch enemy Margo, Greer attempts to solve the mystery of the camp fire which caused the death of her friend, Steph. Add to the thrill of an unsolved mystery, there is the two ex-boyfriends, the animosity of her former best friend, Chelsea, and the secrets her late Mother is hiding. Through it all, Greer learns how to be her own person, her true love and her joy and happiness in embracing her legacy of Dread's Cove. All of this takes place in the summer heat and the darkness and isolation of the forest. Summer's Never Over by Darby Bozeman a good summer read. It will also keep you guessing to the very end who was responsible for the problems at the camp and why. I highly recommend this book.

I very much much enjoyed this thriller set at a summer camp. The dual timelines flowed nicely and the story was easy to follow. There were some nice twists at the end that I certainly did not see coming. If you enjoy thrillers, this one's for you!

The reader navigates Greer's hectic life as a counselor at her family's summer camp. This book alternates between two time periods- before and after a tragic event at the camp. Friendships are formed, broken and reformed all with a hint of mystery. I usually enjoy novels that alternate time periods but I found this one somewhat confusing and leaving some questions unanswered. The characters are believable up to a certain point but then seem to change personality as the novel continues. I am sure there would be mixed feelings about this book which often lead to the best book club discussions.

Summer's Never Over is written in the spirit of God of the Woods and those spooky stories told on a hot summer's night over a campfire. With that said, Darcey Bozeman is still able to throw in some thrills and chills and moments the reader won't see coming. The 'phantom' isn't easy to figure out and you get treated to some spooky, sweltering, lightning filled forest southern nights as you try to figure it out! Throw in some teenage angst, love of your life romance and you have a fine read!
