Perfect for a snowy winter's weekend
This was a heartwarming love story. The story is told in chapters written from the perspectives of several of the main characters. The plot is heartfelt and the emotions of the characters are believable, each in their own way dealing with loss and love. This was an enjoyable book, perfect for a snowy winter weekend.

The Sweetheart Deal
I liked this book. It portrays the feelings of a family after losing a husband and father. I remember when I lost my father at age 12. I also enjoyed reading about the friendship of Leo and Garrett. This is seldom shown in books, authors mainly write about women friendship' This is an excellent read.

Easy reading
The author kept changing perspectives from the standpoint of each character and how they were reacting to the death of one of the main characters. Her characterizations were sensitive and authentic and the story kept you involved in the story and how things would finally get resolved. She made the characters very likable and you felt like you were right there watching the scenes play out. It was an easy read and a hopeful read - good entertainment.

The Sweetheart Deal
The Sweetheart Deal by Polly Dugan was a good read - it really held my attention enough that I read it in 2 days. I enjoy stories that are told in different voices, as this one is. It elicits many emotions around the death of Leo and each characters ability to cope with the loss of their husband, father and friend. The love between Garrett and Audrey was predictable (as was their problem), but still the story was very enjoyable.

Enjoyable read
This is a quick, easy read. It was somewhat predictable, yet kept my attention. This would make a good book club read for mature women. Not really a chick- lit subject, but interesting and thought provoking. I also liked the writing, and the way the author separated the novel by its characters.

Enjoyable read
The Sweetheart Deal by Polly Dugan, is an interesting book about love, grief, friendship and family. Leo, a firefighter, loses his life in a skiing accident, devastating his wife, Audrey and their children. The family grieve and struggle with the help of Leo's best friend Garrett. Without divulging anything more, this is a very entertaining and enjoyable read.

A Sweet Read
The Sweetheart Deal was a book that I read in two days - would have been one day if it had arrived earlier on day 1.
It is written in alternating voices between Leo (only the first chapter to set the story line), Audrey his wife, their 3 sons, and Garrett his best friend. The emotions evoked punch hard-prose is crisp; grief, anger, confusion are tangible. While believable and heart-rendering, I read to the final page and felt that there should have been more to the story. So many questions left unanswered. Perhaps this is the sign of successful writing when the reader is left wanting more - I did.

PROMISES,PROMISES......
Polly Dugan spins a tale about two good friends who make a deal one night after a night out of drinking....long before they can even believe that it will ever come to fruition. 10 years go by, and a tragic accident occurs.....Audrey the mother of three boys loses her husband and Garrett feels an obligation to honor his promise to his best friend Leo. Garrett and Audrey cant imagine what really happens when Garrett takes over responsibility for his best friends family. I enjoyed this book...but found it a little unbelievable and predictable...that is why I scored it lower than Very Good. I do recommend it..but be prepared for some very sad moments...well written and a fast read.
