THE CHARACTERS WILL STAY WITH YOU
With most of the novels I read, (I tend to focus on particular authors) I may come away satisfied that the book was "a good read" - interesting story, suspense in the plot and hard to figure "who done it" - but, after a while the characters fade. Previously the most notable exception was Connie Willis' "Doomsday Book" - those caracters stayed with me for a long time - even after a second reading they are still with me. Well, now I can add David Baldacci's "Wish You Well" to that rarefied category. Baldacci is a gifted story teller - in other that his "political/action" genre.

I just read this book in school as part of the Read Across the Schools program. All juniors are reading Wish You Well this year, and I'm incredibly thankful for the shove into this reading. Baldacci's method of writing made it easy to become involved with the characters, and kept surprises coming around every chapter.

An interesting plot but very simply written with an obvious outcome. Tries to build suspense but the ending is clearly going to be like a fairy-tale.

Text
Wish You Well is a beautifully written novel very different from Baldacci's other books, filled with characters about whom you will care about, a setting that is magical as well as appropriate for this coming-of-age family story. A great read!

I liked this book but the ending was too predictable, I was hoping for an unexpected twist!
