Nicolas Sparks never fails to leave his readers with the simple "Aaahhh" at the end of reading. "The Rescue" is a novel like no other. This may have the same, if not more, effect to readers on matters regarding love and human drama, but the twist and turns of events is in the same rythem as the thubbing of the heart. Another Nicolas Sparks's...

The Rescue
I've read a few of Nicholas Sparks' novels now. The Rescue is not one of his best. I admit that the story was okay, I found a lot of the characters' dialogue silly and useless. Sometimes less is more.

Nicolas Sparks is by far my favorite author. I have read all of his books and loved all of them but this one. I would highly recomend it to a first time reader of his, however if you are a faithful reader of his I can't help but think you will be a little let down. I think he tried to put a new twist to his plot and I just don't think that works for him. I feel like all the books prior to this one felt more real like I knew the characters in the book and could relate and to them. I just didn't get the same feel from this one. It is still a good book but it is not one of his better ones or by all means great.

I have an eight year old boy who is autistic. He was diagnosed four
years ago. I went thru lots of pain and of course joy teaching him the
basic things like understanding language that other children of his age
don't seems to have any problem with. I like this particularly scene
where Denise was watching Kyle sleep and she wished that in Kyle's dream
he was happy playing with other kids who understood him. That scene
brought tears to my eyes. I think at that moment Sparks really touched
my heart. I didn't know what drew me to read his book but now I know.
I really really enjoyed this book (being my first book). My next book
will be A Walk To Remember.

As with all of Sparks' novels, this one provides a large conflict and barrier the hero and heroine must pass through, though the outcome is definitely happy in this novel. I enjoyed every moment of this book. Adding in a son with a speech impairment made it even greater a triumph as the book ended. Sparks usually lacks happy endings, but does not fail in this story. And though it left me teary eyed, like all the rest, it was a truly great read.
