Clare

This was the first book I read by Anita Shreve, and I've been addicted ever since! Her writing style was a refreshing change from anything I'd read in a long while, it reminded me of classics like Wuthering Heights. It was one of those books that I just couldn't put down, and although there was romance it was by no means slushy.
Definitely a book I'd recommend wholeheartedly, it is back on my bookshelf looking slightly battered as it has done the circuit of my friends...and once you've read this one - read all of the others
