The loneliness of sunny and Sonia is deeply emotional and ambitious novel that explores, love, exile and the pain of being disconnected from others and from oneself. Kiran Desai's writing is Rich, lyrical and layered, capturing the subtitle struggle of identity, family pressure and immigration.

Sonia and sunny are both complex flawed and very human. Their loneliness isn't just personal but it's cultural, generational and even spiritual sometimes. Some magical element in the book seems in even or confusing, but the emotional core stays Strong.

At times, the pacing is slow ,and the narrative wanders, but the depth of feeling and honestly in the characters experience make it worth the read. Its not a light story but it's a thoughtful and powerful one one and am rating it a 4/5
