Ashes of Fiery Weather
by Kathleen Donohoe
Firefighters of NY (6/10/2016)
The story of a family of firefighters in NYC. I enjoyed reading it but didn't really get interested until about half way through. The author tells the stories of women in the family--beginning in the middle of the generations, then moving back and forth.
When the Moon Is Low: A Novel
by Nadia Hashimi
Such a timely book! (9/28/2015)
Our book club picked Nadia Hashimi's first novel, The Pearl that Broke its Shell, so I was eager to read her next novel. She doesn't disappoint!
Hashimi's evocative prose brings to life the story of a refugee family fleeing persecution and looking to start a new life inmore
First Frost
by Sarah Addison Allen
Another Winner From Sarah Addison Allen (1/4/2015)
Allen's trademark blend of Southern charm and magical realism is once again in view in this follow up to Allen's debut novel Garden Spells. This was a fast, enjoyable read. I only hope the author will return to Bascom in a future volume--perhaps to tell us what happens tomore
