January 2013 USA bookstore sales up 5.5% versus December

Mar 14 2013: January bookstore sales rose 5.5%, to $2.1 billion, compared to December 2012, according to preliminary estimates from the Census Bureau. Total retail sales in January rose 6.1%, to $382.4 billion, compared to the same period a year ago.

Tan Twan Eng wins Man Asian Literary Prize for The Garden of Evening Mists

Mar 14 2013: Malaysian author Tan Twan Eng won this year's Man Asian Literary Prize for his novel The Garden of Evening Mists.
