The finalists for the 2011 National Book Awards were named yesterday by the National Book Foundation. The fiction shortlist is
The Tiger's Wife by Téa Obrecht (Random House)
The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka (Knopf)
Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward (Bloomsbury USA)
The Sojourn by Andrew Krivak (Bellevue Literary Press)
Binocular Vision by Edith Pearlman (Lookout Books)

Winners will be announced November 16.
