When I was in college I feel like I did sacrifice a lot to stay there. I had no social life, I worked, so I got no sleep, plus even though I was employed there was still a lot of financial hardship. I'm glad I ultimately got my degree, and I'm sure it's made a difference to my income now, so I guess it was worth it. But it's definitely not a time I look back on with any affection.

Yes. My grandfather raised me to always keep this in mind: nothing worth having comes easily. Without having to give before you receive, you never learn the true value of anything. Everyone I know who has had everything handed to them are miserable people - inside and out. I am thankful for every thing I have endured to have all that I have and be all that I am.

I don't know if I'd call it suffering or sacrificing but except for my college education and a car I've never borrowed for anything I've wanted. I've worked, saved and obtained what I wanted when I could pay for it in cash. Sometimes it was hard, such as watching classmates spending a semester or year studying abroad when I could not afford it. Later in life I traveled to Europe and was happy it came to pass.

I have sacrificed to become a writer. That means giving up companionship and fun activities sometimes in order to create. It has been worth it. I think everyone needs a creative outlet of some kind and if you achieve any success it is definitely worth it. But even if you don't, if you have a need or goal you have to keep trying as long as it may be possible or you will never be happy.

Yes I have. Do I think it was worth it. I am not sure. I kind of look at life as the sum total of the choices I have made and the directions my journey has taken me. To second guess those choices does not help me deal with what is and what is possible from the point I am at now.

Like kimk wrote, the completion of my bachelor's and master's degree required a sacrifice. I worked full-time and week to classes evenings and weekends. So like kimk I had no social life. But it was worth it.
