Have you read any of Daniel Mason's other works, and if so, how did this one compare?

After reading North Woods, I could not wait to read Mason's first novel, The Piano Tuner written in 2002. The Piano Tuner is a lovely work of historical fiction set in Burma and British India with a beautifully written plot. It was however not the masterpiece that North Woods has proven itself to be. That being said, for a debut novel, it was an enjoyable read.

I read The Winter Soldier by Daniel Mason in 2018. I marked it "Excellent." I also marked North Woods as "Excellent." Both were so different in style and content, but that just showed me the amazing gift Daniel Mason has as a writer. Both are books that will stay with me for a long time

I have read a few of Mason's other work and enjoyed them - however this novel I believe is his best. I was blown away by this novel. I rarely give a book 5 stars - maybe - maybe - 4 to 5 total in a year. To me 5 stars for this novel is at the ground floor - I would have given double that if it were a rating
