I would recommend Sailor Twain to young adults (not too young because of Lafayette's sleeping around and some of the love-making panels), adults, sailing or boat enthusiasts, Hudson valley area enthusiasts, and sci-fi, fantasy, & folklore/history fans.
The story line and characters might not appeal to all, especially if this were JUST a novel. But I think it being a graphic novel opens the audience up to include more. Even if somebody has not been a big graphic novel reader, this was a good book to discover this genre.

When this book arrived, my 18 year old was beside herself with excitement to read it once I was finished. She never showed interest in my other Book Browse deliveries, which made me think to myself that perhaps this novel was meant for a younger audience. But still....I very much enjoy reading YA novels so I'm not sure why I didn't click with this one. I do believe it is targeted to a younger audience & perhaps people who enjoy using their imagination to "fill in the blanks".

Anyone living on or near the Hudson River would enjoy sailor twain. Certainly anyone on the northeast shore would enjoy this book. Lots of women who love the sea, lakes, rivers and waters identify with mermaids and would love this novel. It is a joy. Need to be cautious about religious right due to some exclamations which may be perceived as sacrilegious or lewd. Overall lovely and any perceived indiscretions may be overlooked. If not too bad for them. They'll miss out on a terrific story and beautiful artwork.

I agree with julianna and garyr. I think those who are creative and like to experiment would enjoy reading this, whether they become attached to the genre or not. There is nothing to keep an author from playing with the form and when done well, it becomes a joy.
