Why do you think Cassie is incapable of fulfilling her responsibility to her families?

Do you think she’s crazy, as some characters say, or just deeply wounded?

I don't think she's either crazy or deeply wounded. I think she is just selfish and unwilling to fight. She seems to be the type of person who always runs from her problems and chooses whatever makes her feel good at the moment.

Unless you really have a mental disorder that is only treatable by medication, I think your life choices are your own. Even if you do have a psychiatric disorder, it is still your choice to seek help for that from qualified sources. To not do so is also a choice, and I don't think Cassie has it in her to really face the truth and get the proper help she needs.

It all goes back to her not taking responsibility for her own life first.

Cassie lives everyday in the what is good for her that day. When she feels bad about abandoning Judy or her other child she tries to make amends but then when something or someone else grabs her attention she is off again. I find her only able to focus on any thing, place or person as long as nothing better comes along or at least what she precieves as better.

I think Cassie was damaged by her relationship with her own mother. I used to work with abused children and often found that the parents had been abused/damaged as children. It was difficult to break the cycle as there were few positive role models.
