Do Emma and Dexter make a good match?

Are Emma and Dexter compatible? They end up getting together, but do you think they make a good couple?

Yes, I think they are a good match. They are different and balance each other. They are best friends as well as lovers and know the ins and outs of each other's lives. They would have been in it for the long haul had circumstances been different. Bonnie Brody

I think they would have made a good couple if they had just taken the time to really understand one another. Or maybe they needed to acknowledge each other as more than just a couple of people just happen to meet up almost every year. I feel Dexter failed to grow up until too late.

I'm not sure they would have been a good match in the long run. They just never seemed to be in the same place intellectually or emotionally. Dexter started out as confident and brash, so sure of his place in the world, whereas Emma had no self-confidence whatsoever. By the time they got together, Emma had learned her worth and was successful, whereas Dexter had hit rock bottom (career gone, marriage ended). They seemed to be on an even keel for the two years they were together, but would it have lasted? We never got to see them face any kind of adversity as a couple. Emma died before they had to deal with the first real bump in the road (the inability to get pregnant).

Emma certainly knew enough about him -- warts and all. I am not sure he was ever capable of really investing in anyone the way she was until the child -- and that took awhile.
