Florence steps up and creates the opportunity for heroism. I think she did this when she sat through Willa's speech, when she rallied with the protestors, and when she accepted her diagnosis and continued as best she could.

I think" accepting opportunities for heroism" was truly Florence's calling. That is what she continued to center her life around.

I think that an opportunity for heroism was not the way Florence viewed what she did. I think she just stood up for her beliefs when the opportunity presented. She had very strong opinions and was not afraid to do what it took to further the cause and if she become a model or hero it was nice but not why she did what she did. She followed her own agenda to try to accomplish what she thought needed to be done.
