Music has been a key element of Michelle's life. How does the music that she listens to relate to the events in her life?
What playlist would you put together for her family?

This is not exactly answering the question, but while I was reading the book, I put on the author's music (under the name Japanese Breakfast on Spotify), and it provided a really nice background ambiance for getting a fuller sense of who this author is. Her voice is lovely, strong, independent, and sensitive, much like her character in the book.

I went back to listen to a variety of Michele’s music before I sat down to answer this question or try to answer it.
Michelle’s music represents her life..her grieving, her mourning and her triumphs. The music that she listened to represents those periods in her life..grief etc. her voice was also representative of those periods. Her last album was more joyful..both the music and her voice. She has finally conquered her grief! Music whether it’s her own or not, portrays her feelings and how she views her life.

I agree that Michelle's music matches who she is in the book. I have a musician friend (different genre) who has used music to deal with the death of a parent. Both the lyrics and the music for the songs that were written about that parent popped into my mind on more than a few occasions while reading this book. If I had the chance to speak to Michelle, I would probably try to put her in touch with my friend. They seem like similar souls.
