Have you ever wished you could do something more?

Have you ever wished you could have done something particular for someone before they died?

Absolutely! In fact, I think that is one of the most common reactions to death. My husband has been dead for many years and I still have times when I wish I had been more compassionate and loving as he faced the end. However, we each have to accept the fact that we can only do what we can in the moment and try to be more aware of others in our present.

I don't believe that anyone who has lived a full life cannot think of not wishing they had done more in certain circumstances. By recognizing those times, asking for forgiveness, and then pledging to look for future times that our eyes might be more open, we move forward with our lives, hoping to do better.

RE: Have you ever wished you could do something more?

I'm mostly a 'live today to the best of my current ability' person. Learn and grow. Accept and adapt. Try to be kind and thoughtful. I don't wish for things to be different, but I understand that things that have happened have shaped me and sometimes have changed my perspective. I can't change the past and I can't predict the exact timing of future events either! So, if I think I should be doing something more, I try to do it while it matters.
