Book Summary

The prestigious King's Cavalla of Gernia has been ravaged by the Speck plague. The deadly disease has decimated the ranks of both cadets and instructors, and the few survivors remain weak and frail. No pre-publication media reviews found but a couple of visitor reviews already posted at Barnes & Noble, which rate it a low 1/5 and 3/5 (plus a 5/5 from the ubiquitous Harriet Klausner - but I've never known her rate any book lower than a 4/5 so tend to take her reviews with a pinch of salt!)

Robin Hobb Author Biography

Robin Hobb, real name Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden, was born in 1952 in California. At nine years of age she and her family left California to live a self-sufficient life in Alaska. After graduating from high school, she attended Denver University before returning to Alaska. She married a local fisherman, and they moved to a small island of the coast of Alaska. She submitted her first story that same year.

Over the course of the following 10 years Robin Hobb had three children and she also managed to continue writing and submitting stories. 1982 brought the sale of her first book, Harpy’s Flight and three other books with the same characters quickly followed.
