About this book

Book Summary

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is pregnant! She couldn’t be more overjoyed – especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery . . . to the latest, coolest pram . . . to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician.

But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luke’s glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble. She’s shopping for two . . . but are there three in her marriage?

Media Reviews

Kinsella’s ode to baby blues is both sly and slapstick.... [She] mines a rich vein by tweaking 21st-century glossy mag obsessions: from sonograms to the hottest baby strollers to tricked-out birthing rooms." - Publishers Weekly.
"Becky never loses her spark, making this fifth entry in the Shopaholic series every bit as delightful and hilarious as its predecessors." - Booklist.
"Effervescent and clever amusement best enjoyed by those whose hearts beat faster at the thought of thousand-dollar baby furniture." - Kirkus.

Decent finisher
I have read Kinsella's Shopaholic series and loved the first book. Shopaholic and Baby maintains the signature Bloomwood wit and capacity for disaster. Luke and the faithful friends make their appearances as does Becky's mum. It is also the longest of the novels and at some point, I felt that Kinsella was also debating with herself as to how to end the novel. Becky endures several emotional scenes in the course of the series but in this book, these scenes are excruciatingly lengthy and to me, unnecessary. I did love the t-shirt slogan mentioned in the book, "She's a Yummy Mummy and we love her."

Generally, I'd rank this book alongside "Shopaholic Ties the Knot" for unrealistic twists and turns.
