BookBrowse Competitions: Official Rules and Guidelines

Rules and Guidelines

Eligibility

Entry to quizzes, giveaways, sweepstakes or other competitions at BookBrowse are limited to those 18 years and older.

In the case of surveys, entrants aged 13+ are eligible to participate.

Sweepstakes to win books are generally only open to US residents, unless otherwise stated. The entry form for each giveaway/sweepstakes will specify the eligibility for that particular promotion. We realize that BookBrowse.com is part of the world wide web and welcome visitors from all countries. However, books are usually provided by publishers in the USA, and most only hold the rights to sell/promote books in certain countries - which is why most sweepstakes are restricted to the USA.

Only BookBrowse members or subscribers to one of our free newsletters are eligible to enter sweepstakes. This helps prevent abuse by people who use multiple email addresses when entering contests. So, if you are not already a subscriber, when you enter you'll be added to the mailing list for the weekly BookBrowse Highlights newsletter. We promise that we will never share email addresses with third parties. If you wish to unsubscribe you can do so with one click from any email.

Wordplay Quizzes are open to visitors worldwide, unless otherwise specified on the entry form, or where prohibited by law. The prize for winning the Wordplay is usually a 6-month membership to BookBrowse (or an extension to an existing membership). Sometimes, we are able to offer one or more free books as an alternative prize--if so, this option is only available to US-residents.

The following persons and their dependents are not eligible to enter or win: employees of BookBrowsers LLC, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertisers, sponsors, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) of each of the above.
How to Enter

To enter, complete the short online entry form specific to the particular sweepstakes/quiz.
Frequency of Entries & Use of Multiple Email Addresses

Only one entry per person, but in the case of some sweepstakes you can earn extra entries if your friends also enter.

Please, do not submit entries from multiple email addresses - this is unfair to other visitors and can result in all your entries being voided.
Terms & Conditions

Entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and by the decisions of BookBrowsers LLC, whose decisions are final. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from these promotions. BookBrowsers LLC reserves the right to permanently disqualify any person it believes has intentionally violated these rules.

By entering, each participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of BookBrowsers LLC, which shall be final. By participating in any BookBrowse quiz/giveaway, each participant agrees to release and hold BookBrowsers LLC and the employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives of BookBrowsers LLC, its advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the quizzes/giveaways; or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

Neither BookBrowsers LLC, nor its sponsors, advertisers, agents, or representatives, are responsible for telephone, network, electronic or computer failures of any kind, or for entries that are stolen, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, delayed by computer transmissions, lost, late, damaged, ineligible or postage due; or for any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the giveaway. BookBrowsers LLC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or cancel any quiz/giveaway at any time if a computer virus, bug or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper play. All entries become the property of BookBrowse and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Any trademarks or copyrighted material used in this promotion are the property of the respective owners and are used herein for identification purposes only.
Selection of Winners and Notification

Winners will be selected at random from the list of eligible entries.

Winners will be notified by email, usually within 14 days of the sweepstakes or quiz closing. Winners have 5 days from the time of notification in which to contact BookBrowse and claim their prize. It is the responsibility of the winner(s) to claim their prize within the time allowed. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited.

No prize substitutions are permitted except by BookBrowse as may be necessary due to unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.

Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash. If the prize is one or more books, this will be mailed to the winner at BookBrowse or the publisher's expense within 30 days of the winner's response. All taxes on prizes, including income taxes, and any incidental expenses associated with collection of a prize are the responsibility of the winner. Winners assume all liability for any damages caused or claimed to be caused by participation or by any prize and release BookBrowsers LLC from any such liability.

Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission to use winner's name, and state/country (e.g. Claire Brown, San Jose, California) for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation.

BookBrowsers LLC guarantees that we will not sell, rent, or otherwise publicize the email addresses of entrants (unless express permission has been given by the entrant to provide this information to a third party) and will make every effort to protect the data while it is stored at BookBrowse.com.
Odds of Winning

Odds of winning are determined by the total number of entries received. All federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Void in any location where participation is prohibited. In the event that any sweepstakes/quiz/giveaway is compromised in any way, electronically or otherwise, that is beyond the control of BookBrowsers LLC, we reserve the right to withdraw the transmission of this sweepstakes and award the remaining prizes among entries received prior to the date of the withdrawal.
