This is far and away the most engaging and, dare I say enchanting, fantasy book that I have read as an adult. I'm usually not drawn to fantasy but am open to a fantasy element in literary and/or historical fiction. For anyone with a similar preference profile, I can't …more recommend it highly enough. Bonus recommendation if you are intrigued by the Napoleonic Wars and enjoy Jane Austen.(less)
