Iron Curtain: A Love Story
by Vesna Goldsworthy
Open the Iron Curtain (1/22/2023)
Vesna Goldsworthy presents a beautiful story of a young woman's experience of love, but more importantly her discovery of resilience and strength. This historical fiction offers a peek behind the iron curtain of 1980s Russia through the eyes of a socialite named Milena, who decides to follow her heart and leave her privileged life. The pace felt a bit slow at the beginning but quickly picks up as the story unfolds. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading it again. I highly recommend Iron Curtain!
Fly Girl: A Memoir
by Ann Hood
Fly Girl is First Class (5/1/2022)
Ann Hood has written a wonderful walk through aviation history from the flight attendant perspective. She shares humorous and touching stories from her own experience. It brought back memories of my own experiences as a child boarding my first plane. This is a great book to pack in your carry-on bag for your next vacation. I highly recommend this book!
Peach Blossom Spring: A Novel
by Melissa Fu
A Beautiful Story (3/22/2022)
Melissa Fu presents a beautiful story of family, love, resilience, and determination through the eyes of a young mother and her son. This historical fiction takes us across China, Taiwan, and the United States over the course of 50 years. The book offers an insightful look at the struggle to survive while escaping political upheaval and to begin a new life in another country.

Ms Fu has written a wonderful and moving story. I was drawn in immediately and did not want to put the book down. Through her words, I could see each family member and the landscape that they traveled. I highly recommend Peach Blossom Spring, especially for a book club discussion.
