Olive isn't always likeable, but who cares? She is a memorable character I would want to know. The stories are superb, well worth rereading over and over again.

Amy Tan is a master storyteller and wordsmith. The growing Cecil B. DeMille cast of characters inspired me to keep a Who's Who cheat sheet, which worked very well for me. The mixture of humour and brutal reality was deftly handled by the author, and was in complete harmonymore
