The Blackhouse
by Peter May
When you "return home", you find what you left -- and more.(12/3/2012)
I wouldn't dream of giving away the ending, which was not at all what I expected it to be -- great mix of character development, police procedural and atmosphere. Want to read more by this guy!
Carpe Jugulum
by Terry Pratchett
a look at good and evil(12/3/2012)
Probably my favorite Pratchett -- (in addition to anything with Sam Vimes).
This examination of good and evil is superb, with a side-swipe on the stupidity of "niceness". Granny's journey into light and darkness is pure theology, and it's good to be reminded that evil is …more something that seems so enticing that we want to ignore the fact that it sucks blood.(less)
