One witness says that "families have got personalities just like people," going on to give examples ("The Donovans are healthy stock and stubborn…"). Do you agree with this? If so, what "personalities" would you use to describe your own family?

Coming from an Italian family I recognized the family dynamics. I do believe families have personalities, some very interesting ones too. My family can be pretty volatile. Everyone has an opinion, we don’t all agree. However, when it comes to being loyal, well “don’t mess with us”.

I believe they do. Whether they are inherited or learned I do not know. My family talks a lot, they laugh a lot and can be loud. I love them love.

Oh, you betcha. I'd classify mine as dysfunctional! Mine has always been gossipy, judgemental, and poised to disapprove of others (and it's been that way since the earliest family get-togethers I can remember).

I bookmarked this quote! I completely agree. My family definitely has a distinctive personality. Fun to see everyone pretty much in same boat

I’m from a Sicilian family and rosannes hit the nail on the head. We are opinionated, bullheaded and feisty and we often lock horns with each other but god help the man or woman who messes with any of my sisters or my brother !

An interesting statement and true to the point of including my family. We are a caring lot and tend to get into each other's business sometimes too much. But when help is needed - we are all there for one another!

This question reminds me what is happening with the politics our nation is combating. My family is now on both sides; some so very much it rather frightens me what may happen to our relationships as time goes on. I feel there will always be big divisions and heartache forward for our family.

Often families display personalities. I think of the rowdy and rambunctious family I married into as opposed to the calm and sedate family I grew up in. My husband and I have children who got the best of both of us, though I am not certain how I would describe our family. Now they have married and added other characteristics to our clan--all for the better, I might add. They are funny, sporty, kind, thoughtful, and intelligent. I could not be more pleased.
